As if the internet were not automated enough, mobile handset giant Nokia are set to announce what is likely to be the most exciting software program for many years.  In what is been called “Point and Find” they are set to release a software which will allow you to take a picture of something you like and allow the software to search the mobile internet for the best prices.  The bad news is that while they have taken 5 years to get this far, the software will not be available for another 3 years!

The Nokia system uses a highly specialised digital camera to capture an item, and using the software held within the handset the user is then given a number of choices such as , finding as much information as possible about a land mark or as mentioned above, sourcing a particular item for purchase.

While the potential for the software is enormous, it is the find and buy side which is causing much excitement.  The idea is that once the software has pinpointed the item, the user will be given the chance to buy, the item ordered instantly and funds will then be debit from the customer’s bank account.  It’s just a pity that the software will not be available this Christmas – now that would have been good!
