The BlackBerry 8830 World Edition should not be confused with the BlackBerry 8800. That’s because the new mobile phone has so much more to offer. It has more than just the CDMA, but also offers GSM/GPRS radio. It’s not quite as fast as the previous edition simply because a different processor is used, but there is not much difference. The phone may be used on US networks as well as abroad in Asia and Europe. GSM is very popular in Europe and in these locations the phone may be used with the BlackBerry’s GSM SIM card. That is of course if the subscriber has the Verizon Global Service Plan.

When it comes to appearance the BlackBerry 8830 has trackball control, is very slim, and simply looks good. It also offers a micro SD card slot, email support, Bluetooth 2.0, built in GPS, PIM applications, and more. The BlackBerry 8830 does not have a camera built in but that is because it is focused to business users that need security over novelty.

The BlackBerry 8830 boasts an ARM 9 processor that powers out 225 MHz This power is fast enough for most of the phone’s platforms. The phone turns on pretty quickly and opening websites is quick as well. Opening an attachment is quick and easy and playing videos and music is fast, too. The phone has 64MB flash memory built in as well as 32 megs of RAM. Storage space for data may be expanded if necessary.

The most important aspect of this phone for business users is that it may be used in the United States as well as in Europe. The GSP/GPRS networks that are popular in Asia and Europe were not in the United States so cell phone users who traveled globally experience communication problems. That’s not the case with the dual network phones and it is because of this that the BlackBerrry 8830 is popular and will remain popular with corporate users.
