If you don’t have a whole lot of money to spend and you are looking for a mobile phone with expandable memory card and mp3 playing capabilities, the Alcatel OT-801 mobile phone is a good option.  In fact, even though this mobile phone can play mp3’s, it is one of the least expensive mobile phones currently on the market.

This mobile does have an expandable memory slot that allows you to add more memory to the phone.  Some models come with a 128MB microSD, which is capable of holding about 20 or 30 songs, depending on how long they are.  If you are looking to hold more songs, the memory slot is capable of accepting up to a 2 GB microSD card.  With one of these cards, you will be able to hold around 1,000 songs.

With the internal memory, you will be able store 250 names and numbers.  The mobile phone can also recall the last 10 numbers dialled, the last 10 calls received, and the last 10 missed calls.

Although the Alcatel OT-E801 does not have a whole lot of extras, the music player is quite easy to follow and it contains a shuffle option.  In addition, the phone comes loaded with two Java games.  The screen is a bit small, with dimensions of just 28 x 30 mm.  The display is CSTN with 65K colours with a resolution of 128 x 128 pixels.

The Alcatel T-E801 is also quite light, weighing in at just 79g.  With dimensions of 96.5 x 45 x 17.5 mm, it will also fit quite easily into your pocket.  You can also personalize your ring tones with 64 channels of polyphonic ring tone capabilities.

If you are looking for any extras beyond an mp3 player, you will be disappointed in the Alcatel OT-E801 mobile phone.  It does not include a camera, a Web browser, or even an FM radio.  If you just want a basic mobile phone that is able to play your music, however, the price of this phone is unbeatable.

With its low price, the Alcatel OT-E801 mobile phone is not intended to be the best music phone on the market.  The keypad can sometimes be difficult to use because the keys are flat and are located really close together.  In addition, only the track name of the song you are listening to is displayed on the screen.  Therefore, if you are used to seeing album art or other information about the song displayed on your music phone or music player, you might be left feeling disappointed.  Also, keep in mind that this music phone only plays mp3 music files.  So, if you have saved your music in another format, you won’t be able to download it to your phone.

When you wish to listen to the music on your Alcatel OT-E801 mobile phone, you will only be able to use the headphones that are specifically meant for the phone.  This can make the sound quality lack somewhat, as the headphones are not top-of-the-line.  If you are looking for a basic mobile phone that lets you listen to your music at a low price, however, this phone is a good option to buy.
