While Unreal Tournament 3 PS3 will be easily recognisable by those who have played the award winning game on their PC, the PS3 version is a whole new ball game.  They have managed to keep the PS3 version as near as possible to the PC game, retaining an array of characters and the general controls and skills required to be victorious.  So does it push the PS3 functionality to the limit?

Cast in the middle of a war zone it is your job to bring calm and peace back to the world, taking on a whole host of different enemies and challenges.  This traditional First Player Shooter has much more to offer that the normal FPS, with the speed, quality of graphics and general game play above and beyond anything currently on the PS3 market.

There were concerns that Unreal Tournament 3 PS3 would not travel well from the PC version but it is actually better than many people expected.  It makes full use of the Unreal Search Engine 3 which ensures that each game is different, offering an array of obstacles and tasks to complete.  As it is from the same stable as Gears of War, many are making a direct comparison with that particular game which was very popular.  The developers took a risk offering an online multi-player mode, but it has to be said this has created yet more interest in the game where modes such as Warfare, Capture-the-Flag, Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch are available.

While the developers took a few chances attempting to update this game for a different area of the games market, there is no doubt that it will be a success.  Top marks for an all round excellent FPS game which has speed, graphics and sound in abundance.
