While the build up to the launch of Blacksite: Area 51 was accompanied by some fairly decent comments and feedback, the game has been something of a let down at launch.  Despite the attempt to pull itself away from a shoot’em up game, it is drawn back into the genre which so many people are now wearing thin of.

That said Blacksite: Area 51 has some good quality graphics, the game play itself is decent but the wow factor is missing and there is nothing to keep you coming back for more.  The game itself is effectively a military based shoot’em up game with your first mission based in Iraq.  You will then travel around a number of different locations taking your team of soldiers with you.

While you are in control of these soldiers and they are supposed to obey your commands that does not always happen.  There seems to be some mix-up between the artificial intelligence element of the game and the ability to understand and react to simple commands.  This then forces the actions of the soldiers to be unpredictable and there is little thought in the battle scenes.

You will encounter an array of different enemy from humans to aliens and everything in between.   While the developers have to be applauded for there initial attempts to draw away from the general shoot’em up game play, this is exactly what it has turned into.

There is little relevant storyline to Blacksite: Area 51, the game play is nothing special and unfortunately you will probably lose interest after the first few battles.  Too much repetition and not enough unique content have spoiled what initially looked like being a great game.
