Nikon D300 Digital Camera Review

While strictly speaking it is in the same family as the Nikon D200 the Nikon D300 is actually a totally different model, which includes a vast array of new functionality, new services and a great new look.  The design and style of the Nikon D300 is very impressive, with a black finish and shaped so that it can be held steady at all times.  With dimensions of 147mm x 113mm x 74mm and weighing just 1.8lbs, it is very easy to slip into a bag or a large pocket for easy carriage.

The Nikon D300 offers 12.3 million pixels for great picture detail, more that double that of the original D100 model, and well in excess of the more recent D200. This is greatly complimented by the auto focusing functionality which allows you to zoom in by both colour and scenery recognition.  The speed and ease of use has been greatly improved and in many instances it is just a case of sitting back and pressing the button, the camera will do the rest, even allowing you to change the colours of the scenery and items in shot at a later date!

Obviously targeted at the professional market, the Nikon D300 Digital Camera is still something which will appeal to the masses, many of whom will already have had experience of the more basic digital cameras on the market.  The camera offers an impressive 6 frames per second on continuous mode, and 8 frames when connected to a power pack.  Another of the many upgrades on the D200 is the self-cleaning sensor unit which will automatically adjust and clean the lens for the best picture. 

While there are a lot more services and functionality with the Nikon D300 Digital Camera the menu driven system is very easy to operate and you will be able to find what you are after very quickly.  The speed and quality of the images is hardly recognisable from the D200, which was also a leading digital camera at launch – such has the technology moved on.  The camera also offers a range of image sizes, a very useful on screen playback facility and the option to upload and down pictures to and from a mass of computer and portable devices. 

There is also room for a memory stick to increase what is already a very impressive memory storage capacity – especially useful for those with an array of cameras, or just looking to keep their images safe.  All in all the Nikon D300 Digital Camera has taken easy photography to another level and is perfectly equipped to take Nikon onwards and upwards.
